Steel is made of iron and carbon. But the amount of carbon and other metallic and non-metallic impurities play a very important role in the production of steel and its grade. There are more than 3500 degrees for different manufactured steels. The carbon content of steel can vary between 0.1 to 1.5 percent in a variety of steel products. But the highest amount of carbon in steel is between 0.1 to 0.25 percent. Metals such as manganese, phosphorus and sulfur are also used in steel production. Manganese makes steel more flexible, but phosphors and sulfurs are used to increase the strength of a variety of steel products.
